You have arrived at my "Joe's Views" page. These are my views and opinions of things that are in the news or topics of current interest. These are my opinions and my opinions only. I have done a certain amount of research and information gathering to form these my opinions and hope they provoke thought.
1. Race and the political parties.
First of all when It comes politics I views are pretty broad. Some things I am very conservative on issues and pretty dang liberal on others. One thing that has bothered me for some time is the notion that conservatives and republican party some how represent racism especially where African-Americans are concerned. I have always disagreed with that view and so set out to find the truth. Here are just a few of the facts I was able to uncover.
First I found that allot of this belief stems from the Civil Rights Act of 1964. President Johnson was in office and both house of capital hill were in firm control of the democrats. So the democrats got the credit for passing the bill. But that leaves out so much information. Though LBJ ruled his party with and iron hand while senate majority leader and VP he could not get them together on the civil right issue. The final numbers where republicans 81% in favor of passing the bill but only 79% of democrats where on board. Not only that many democrats attempted a filibuster. Leading the filibuster was democrat Senator Robert Byrd (also known for being a former K K K wizard). It was during this filibuster attempt that Byrd made is famous 16 hour speech. There was also Senator Fulbright whom President Clinton called one of his mentors. Here is something most people are not aware of. In short even though held both houses of congress the bill could have been pasted without republicans who got no credit at all.
That was not the first civil rights bill! Nope, President Eisenhower task the republicans on capital hill to come up with civil rights bill in the 1950s which they did in 1957. However that bill was defeated by the capital hill democrats and here is the really big one. The democrat heading the charge against the bill was none other that John F Kennedy! You see he wanted to use civil rights as an issue in his bid to be president. So basically JFK tried seven years of civil rights for African-Americans for his political gain.
What else was happening in 1964, well lets see we had the ingratiation of schools in the south. Remember the southern governors standing in the doors of schools saying "no coloreds in our white schools"! Guess what, they were democrats! The same people who have been fighting school vouchers. See here is something that has been left out of the school voucher program put forth by republicans. Means testing, that means if your a six digit a year person you will pay for your own kids private education. But people who are poorer and cannot afford such a thing as private education will get help based on need. So 45 years ago democrats where standing in the door to keep young black kids from the far better white schools. Now they are standing in the door saying stay in your failing inter city schools. Education is the key to everything in this world. The republicans are trying to help our young people to get the best education possible no matter what their color, pretty sure we all know that is not in our public school system.
Does anybody know who Hugo Black was? He was a Supreme Court Justice nominated by FDR, confirm by a democrat controlled capital hill in the 40s. What did Justice Black do before the Supreme Court? He was a democratic senator, before that you ask, Justice Black was a lawyer for and member of the KKK. Wow, we had a Supreme Court Justice and he served till I believe 1972 and still have senator both democrats that have heavy ties to the KKK. To continue I found that from the 1850s through 1950s estimates run from 3200 to 4600 lynching of blacks mostly in the south. During that same period republicans introduced approximately 200 bills aimed at stopping this. Every one was defeated/filibuster by democrats on the grounds it was a state issue.
Now here comes a good win. Have you ever heard of a group called the Radical Republicans? The Radical Republicans was a group headed by Generals Sherman & Sheridan which tried to move into power after the assassination of President Lincoln. If you are not setting down had better get that way. Number one on the Radical Republican's agenda list was full citizenship for the what was referred to the "New Americans" aka recently freed slaves! Full citizenship, voting rights, property rights, everything right down the line. Look around and try to imagine where we would be at today if that had happened. However the Radical Republicans lost the battle to the democrats of the day.
I could go on and on pointing out the hypocritical carp that has been dumped on African-Americans but instead I will end here and leave you with a couple of things to think about. First a simple question, what reason would the republicans have for trying to hold down such a huge segment of our society? We are the party of free trade and free enterprise, we want every one working, making money, buying, selling, starting your business, money send your kids to college so they can earn even more money to provide for their families. Now on the other hand the democrats have a great deal to gain by keeping African-Americans where they are and I think we can all agree African-Americans make a disproportionately large block of the lower income Americans. Democrats have enjoyed a guarantied African-American voting block for 45 years. Here is number two, if the democrats lose just 20% of the black vote they can not hold any meaningful office in the land. It would seem to me with numbers like that my African-American friends you should be wheeling a great deal of power. You should have everything you want. I think we can agree that has not happened. It seems to me that if my roof leaked and I hired a roofer and 45 years later I still had water in the house I would hired a different roofer. All that I ask is to just take a look at us and form your own opinions and don't believe what somebody else tells you.

Ingrates
We have all heard people say something to the effect of “this younger generation is going to hell” and so on. My Grandmother told me her parents said that about her generation. My Grandmother was born in the 1880s. The bad news is that my father’s generation also known as the World War II generation was dead on right about the baby boomer generation. We have been the worst thing ever to happen to this country. The WWII generation turned over control to the greatest and freest nation in the world. My generation on the other hand as been hell bent on turning it into another socialist also ran.
Somewhere along the line the United States Military, a once respected organization has now become the bad guys! Yes it is true! How many times have you been to movies and heard the US Military referred to as shady and evil just looking for a reason to start WWIII? That’s right, if there is some evil going on it is because the military is involved. These movies portray the men and women serving our country, the people guard the life, liberty and freedoms we all enjoy as a bunch of dull witted kill crazy whack jobs. I believe that is the reason that liberal politicians and the liberal media are able to attack not just the military but the young men and women serving in it! That’s right just look back over the past few years. The New York Times had Abu Grab as the headline for 60 odd days. Over 30 days in a row. A Navy Seal was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor where does the New York Times run that, bottom of page 8. That is the same New York Times that publicized secret information they had uncovered regarding our knowledge of our enemies' methods of raising money. In fact one liberal rag after another has done pretty much the same thing.
There was Senator (now VP) Bidden speaking on the floor of the Senate going in to a rant screaming and yelling comparing the United States Military to some of the worst mass murderers of the 20th Century. That would be the Nazi Death Camps, Russian Gulags and the Bo Pot's Kumar Rouge killings fields. Then there was Senator Kennedy going off also on the floor of the Senate stating there was no difference between the murderers, rapist and torturers of Hussein’s Abu grab and the US Military guards. Lets see, barking dogs compared to murder, rape, torture, and dismemberment. Of course let’s not forget good old Rep Murtha Retired Marine Col standing on the floor of Congress calling Marines cold blooded murderers. Murtha you have achieved something few others have. You sir have earned the title ex-marine. You no longer have a right to the title “MARINE”! For those of you who do not know to be called an ex-marine is the worst of all insults. Then there was Senator now Secretary of State Clinton and one heck of allot other democrats from both houses declaring we had lost the war, in other words the United States Military had been defeated and the men and women serving in it were losers! Which of course is the same declaring the other guys the winners. Allow me to remind you that all of this took place while we were at war troops on the ground in harms way! Now there is the gifts that keep on giving, video of our leaders condemning our young men and women as the worst killers and mass murderers. That kind of thing is great for getting passions cranked up to motivate people to become suicide bombers, set ambushes, I.D.E.s and so on. At one time in this once nation there would have been outrage. This nation was once very proud of its military. Then along came the baby boomer generation! Now the military are bad evil people and crapping on them for political gain is accepted and even rewarded. There was proof of that this last election, over 50% of the American votes went to the poles and said loud and clear they approved of the whole deal. That is not hard to understand when you figure that for roughly 98% of the people in this country it is somebody else’s kid. How many of you that approved it for somebody else's son or daughter would have done so if your son or daughter where in uniform serving there nation? If your son or daughter were wearing a uniform serving their nation in Iraq or Afghanistan where the recoil from these actions will be felt would you still be able to approve craping our military? If not then how did you make it alright for somebody else's?
